Working from home is excellent! People who work from home enjoy many advantages, such as doing their job from home. This is a good option for people who like to work in a quiet place where they are not interrupted by other people. There isn’t a long drive to get there. You can get a snack or go outside for some fresh air.

However, there are also some downsides to the idea. If you don’t work in an office, it can be lonely because you don’t get to talk to people all the time. Even though you wake up and move a few steps to your desk, you only see the same four walls every day.

I am grateful that I can work from home. Then, I’m not going to take this chance for granted. But, I’ve had to develop ways to make it easier.

Over the years, and even during the pandemic, I’ve developed ways to make working from home more fun and less boring.

1. Dates for the Work

Having friends is so important. The weekend isn’t always enough for people to get to know each other. Zoom meetings aren’t the same as face-to-face meetings, even though they’re easy to use.

I love going to work with a friend. We’ll meet at someone else’s house or a coffee shop to work. It’s not like we work for the same company or even work in the same field. Seeing someone else working hard is very motivating, moves you to a new place, and makes you feel less alone.

2. Open the Window

I spend all day at my desk a lot of the time, which is just inches from my bed. I don’t get to see the sun. I try to go outside at least once a day, but I often forget when I’m in a work groove.

If I open the window to get a slight breeze, I feel less confined and like I have more space. There is nothing better than getting a little taste of nature.

3. A Morning Routine Is Necessary

I think it’s a good idea to have a morning routine. This doesn’t mean that you have to be a morning person or get up early. It means that you set aside a few minutes for yourself each morning before you start your day.

As soon as I wake up, I go to the gym. I love to work out in the morning, so I go there right away. When I wake up, I have a cup of coffee and make breakfast. Then I read the news and social media posts for a few minutes. It’s so simple, but it puts me in a good mood when I start my workday.

4. Take a Break from the house

You can’t work from home all day and night, never getting up from your desk. This is not possible. Prioritize leaving the house in any way possible. You’ll be more grateful for your work-from-home job when you get back.

If you have time on your lunch break, go to the grocery store. Walk around the block, go for a run after work, and read outside for a few minutes in the morning. Taking the trash out or getting the mail can get you out of your head for a little while and put you in a better mood.

5. Sunlight First

Sunlight is so important, not just for vitamin D. It’s also essential to get a lot of it. In a dark room all day, seeing the sun makes you feel much better. Take time every day to see the sun, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Make it a goal. I don’t want you to sunbathe. I want you to enjoy a few minutes of nature. Listen to the birds, hear the bees, and feel the warmth.

6. Calls and Zoom Meetings

Having back-to-back phone calls and Zoom meetings is the worst thing that can happen to you. Your back hurts from sitting in the same chair all day, and your body wants to move.

If at all possible, try to spread out your meetings a little. Take a break now and then to stretch, think about what you’re doing, get a snack, do some jumping jacks, etc. You’ll be less tired at the end of the day and have a better attitude.

7. Change Your Work Area

Working in another part of the house can also help you get a new perspective and get back into the groove. The majority of the time, I work at my desk. Sometimes, I’ll work at my dining room table, on my couch, or even in bed! Sometimes, when you work in your bed a lot and don’t do it often, it can be nice to have a break.
