Today I want to discuss a topic that is quite disturbing my mind, namely, “adulting is hard.” When we were children, we yearned to be adults. Adults have total control over their lives and have access to a limitless supply of money and time. They are free to travel anywhere, purchase whatever, and do anything they want. Isn’t that the perfect life?
As we mature into maturity, we discover that being an adult does not automatically entitle us to wealth and freedom. Adults may be able to do tasks that younger people cannot, but this does not indicate that adults may do anything they choose. The transition from dreaming to reality is rarely as simple as it may seem.
Are adults free to do anything?
We have the freedom to do anything we choose as adults. However, our choice has some ramifications. We have more options, yet we cannot accomplish everything we desire.
For instance, you may opt to stay up all night playing video games, but you will feel like a zombie the next day at work. You are allowed to skip work, claim to be ill, and spend the whole day in bed. However, the task will not disappear; you are only deferring it—you will still need to do them.
Adulthood implies having full responsibility for your well-being. Thus, instead of pursuing all of your goals, you begin to make concessions. You’ve discovered that you need to deal with your difficulties rather than running away from them.
Instead of getting a night shot out, you learn to manage your time better. You decide to arrive early, work ahead of schedule, and leave early. It’s all about the repercussions of our choices, and the only way to understand this is to go through it, and like I say, “adulting is hard.”
You feel adulting is hard, and you feel you had it all figured out.
Nobody has it all figured out, and no one will ever have it all figured out. When you think you’ve mastered everything, life throws fresh lessons your way. Everything is continuously changing, and the only constant in life changes.
Therefore, rather than seeking comfort in life, learn to accept the continual changes. You never know what will happen next.
Taking care of relationships is very important.
It is simple to make friends in school. On the weekends and after school, you spend time with your friends. We should run into each other again tomorrow or even the following week. There is no need to preserve the relationship because of it.
After you graduated, your group split apart. Many students acquired jobs while others completed their education, while some traveled overseas. You used to hang out whenever you wanted, but now you have to work to meet people and this makes you feel adulting is hard. You may have lost contact with some individuals but maintained communication with those that matter to you.
I believe this happens all the time. People begin to alter when they relocate to a new setting. New locations, people, and experiences will impact their personalities, habits, goals, and general life perspective. And it happens to all of us. According to science, your body’s cells will alter every couple of years. So after a time, you become a different “person.”
If you have managed to remain friends with your closest pals even years after high school, consider yourself lucky. Despite all odds, you’ve managed to stay together.
There are health hazards.
It is one of the most challenging aspects of adulting is hard. People often begin with denial. They believe they will always have the physiques of adolescents or young adults and hence neglect their bodies.
However, you will begin to notice changes in your body. You can’t stay up all night and feel good the next day. If you eat recklessly and do not exercise, you will soon acquire weight. Having a good night’s sleep is a luxury.
A few years ago, I went through this phase when I realized I couldn’t play football very well anymore. I ran out of breath quickly, my kicks were weak, and I couldn’t control the ball with my feet.
Even I have felt how breathing is no longer accessible. About nine months ago, I had a lung infection and had to extra oxygen to breathe.
Thankfully, now I have started to recover.
Now I realized that my body needed to care. I go to bed early and eat more vegetables too. Surprisingly, these things improved not only my body but also my mental state.
Exercise, sleep, and food intake should all be kept in mind.
When you exercise, your body produces endorphins, which make you feel better. Dopamine and serotonin, which are pleasurable substances in the brain, are elevated, contributing to your well-being. Getting adequate sleep can make you feel better and heal your weariness. Nutritious food nourishes your brain with the nutrients it needs to operate at peak performance.
To maintain a healthy body and mind and to do well in life and work, you should do the following: exercise, get enough sleep, drink enough water, and eat a diet that’s good for you.
Life is a never-ending educational process.
The more you get older, the more you come to understand that you will never know everything and feel adulting is hard. Life doesn’t operate that way. You will only be able to see clearly after the process is almost complete.
Because you never felt like you may lose your pals, you didn’t put much effort into your relationships. However, you now understand that you cannot take your previous connections for granted. If you fail to preserve your relationship, the gap between you will widen.
Your health is no longer a minor issue. Things you assumed occurred solely to the elderly began appearing to others in your immediate vicinity. You’ve seen your pals discussing cholesterol, diabetes, and hair loss, and you’ve started to worry whether those conditions may affect you as well.
We will constantly learn something new throughout our lives. In a few years, we will be a completely new human being created entirely of new cells.
